Michelle Harrison was born in 1979 and grew up in Grays, Essex. Before she was published she had various jobs including working in a bar, a bakery and an art gallery before becoming a children’s bookseller at Waterstones. She then went on to work as an assistant editor in children’s fiction at Oxford University Press. She now writes full-time and has a son, Jack, and two cats. Her first novel, The Thirteen Treasures, won the Waterstones’ Children’s Book Prize and has been sold in over sixteen territories. It is followed by two sequels, The Thirteen Curses and The Thirteen Secrets.
She has since published Unrest, a stand-alone ghost novel for teens and One Wish, a prequel to the Thirteen Treasures trilogy. Aside from writing, Michelle’s favourite things are art, animals (especially black cats), old objects, spooky places, and her Mini Cooper.
